{"id":1413,"date":"2022-02-07T11:39:46","date_gmt":"2022-02-07T11:39:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blcs.eng.cam.ac.uk\/?p=1413"},"modified":"2026-01-23T11:45:49","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T11:45:49","slug":"date-for-the-diary-blcs-annual-training-workshop-june-15-17-2022-birmingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blcs.org.uk\/?p=1413","title":{"rendered":"Date for the diary: BLCS Annual Training Workshop: June 15-17, 2022, Birmingham."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div class='content-column two_fifth'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-1412\" src=\"https:\/\/www.blcs.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/EPSRC_logo-300x75.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"196\" height=\"58\" \/><\/div><div class='content-column three_fifth last_column'>We are pleased to announce the next edition of the British Liquid Crystal Society (BLCS) Annual Training Workshop will be held at the University of Birmingham from 15-17 June\u00a02022.<\/div><div class='clear_column'><\/div><\/p>\n<p>The workshop, being funded by the UK\u2019s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), is intended to provide education and training for the next generation of researchers in the highly interdisciplinary area of liquid-crystal research, highlighting its recent advances in the wider context of soft and biological matter.<\/p>\n<p>The 2022 event will be held as a physical event in the summer. The three-day event will start at noon on the 15th June and finish in the late afternoon of the 17th, and will include lectures, practical training sessions and a mini-symposium \u201cLiquid-Crystal Research in the 2020s\u201d; the mini-symposium will discuss emerging questions and open problems in liquid-crystals research and at its interfaces. The workshop is intended for early-stage researchers (primarily PhD students, but also post-doctoral research associates and researchers in industry, who are relatively new to the field of liquid-crystal research, irrespective of their academic disciplines) and can offer limited number of places.<\/p>\n<p>For further details and to register your interest please download this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blcs.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/BLCS_ATW_2022_Announcement_April.pdf\">Expression of Interest form<\/a>.
